A bunch of links I've been saving for the past few months. Maybe I should do this monthly, they do pile up.

Short Films
Short Stories

  • They used "The Killing Moon" by Echo and the Bunnymen in Donnie Darkos theatrical cut, but "Never Tear Us Apart" by INXS in the directors one. They are both georgous songs, but I think "TKM" works better. Also, I probably wouldn't have heard any Echo songs for years if it hadn't been for that movie. Whereas, my mom and sister are big INXS fans, so I would have heard "NTUA" at some point.

  • An Antiques Roadshow appraisal of Ray Bradbury books.

  • Another one for Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? I didn't like that book too much, but this was sweet.

angelicmobster8: black and white photo of cherries (Cherries)

  1. Gilbert Gottfried reads 50 Shades of Grey, omg

  2. The Yellow Wallpaper, also listened to it on Librivox

  3. Johnny Cash - Chicken in Black

  4. Have to see some more Bollywood movies. Like Dil Se.

angelicmobster8: black and white photo of katharine hepburn, text says i'm still here (Katharine Hepburn)

  1. Bipolar Bear - Goth Time Rag

  2. Blank Dogs - Ages Ago

  3. Creepy lines from books

  4. Southern Swans Onion Annual, so there.

  5. This tumblr post mentions Academy X, omg I hated that book. I remember buying it from Value Village all "I like the cover".

  6. Speaking of tumblr, a guy playing table tennis with his dick appeared on my dash.

  7. Some of my favourite defunct livejournals: prettybooks (someone posted something in october), ofmornings, ergotismus (she has a tumblr though)

This song is so good.

Other songs I'm lovin' today

  1. Tina Turner - Mountain High/River Deep

  2. Ohio Players - Sweet Sticky Thing

  3. The Waitresses - Christmas Wrapping

This parody Kim Wayans did of the Crystal Waters song. <3

Another Vi Hart video that is just...

David Walliams wrote a childrens book called Gangsta Granny. I know him as the creepy dude from Capturing Mary, so it's hilarious.

While I'm here, I may as well do an update on the books I'm reading

Motown Encyclopedia

  • Bruce Willis had an entry, lol

  • Joeys mom took that really well

  • I finished it

Christmas Treasury

  • I skipped the short story "A Country Christmas". I don't like doing that, but bleh.

Scott Pilgrim vs The World

  • Finished this. It's a little more incoherant than the first volume, but in a charming way I guess.

This creepy ass beautiful tree ring music. Need to be in some fairy tale horror movie where people turn into trees.

This interesting article about Anne (of Green Gables). Anne may have also married Gilbert because she wanted to be a mother. I'm sure a lot of homoromantic asexual people want kids. I prefer Emily of New Moon, but that's a different subject.

Vi Hart blows my mind. This is "old", but I still love watching it.

Wonder if this counts for aromantic people, because I'm starting to think I'm aromantic.

It snowed today.

I should probably tell Other Sister to listen to Bjork, I think she would really like her music. But she pisses me off.
angelicmobster8: black and white photo of a monarch butterfly (Butterfly)

  1. I feel bad for not liking Cat Power music more. Her voice is lovely and the songs are good, I just can't get into it. But I really love this.

  2. I got 8/10 on this literary villains quiz. Though I admit, I had to guess a bit.

  3. This is so true. I haven't told anyone this, but I had "Barbie Girl" stuck in my head while I was trying to kill myself, that one time. I don't think anyone I know would find it as funny as I do.

  4. Women who would end Christian Grey. The Marina Abramovic one is my fave. Catherine Robbe-Grillet would too.

  5. I love rocks/crystals that look like futuristic cityscapes or something. Set to this song.

  6. Here's another lovely crystal formation.

  7. This playlist.

Book related:

  1. Tells you how long it would take you to read the Game of Thrones series. I used to watch the show, don't know if I'll ever read the series. It also tells you how long it would take with other books. Anyway, I got 72 days.

  2. Deaths Head Hawk Moth

  3. Which banned book are you? I was the Henry Miller book...

  1. Billy Idol - Eyes Without a Face. Would need this playing at my 80's prom

  2. King Crimson - In the Hall of the Crimson King

  3. Pink Floyd - Brain Damage

  4. Anika - Sadness Hides the Sun. OMG OMG OMG OMG

  1. A tv spot for The Shining. It has music by Berlioz. I recognized it, because I used to watch Sleeping with the Enemy a lot when I was little.

  2. Beautiful motherfucking' trees!

angelicmobster8: trent reznor singing woefully into a mic (Singer)
I now realize that the version of "Pass This On" by The Knife (that I mentioned here) that I love, is a live version. I mean, I knew that all along, but I didn't realize how different the studio version was. It's fun, but not, whoa. You know. Actually, I had heard it already in a movie and didn't even recognize it when I heard the live version.

It was in Magic Magic. That movie. I just don't know.

Some more songs:

  1. Hole - Dicknail. This live version just blows my mind, and I wasn't even there.

  2. Killdozer - King of Sex. They have a good cover of "Cinnamon Girl" as well. There's a video of Neil Young performing it, and it focuses on the women in the audience, singing along.

  3. The Who - See Me Feel Me. Apparently, Roger Daltrey hated his voice during this live Woodstock performance. They were dehydrated and tripping on acid. Pete Townsend was all fucked up and kicked a cameraman or something. Anyway, I love his scratchy breaking voice here.

  1. Tim Curry. Tim Curry. Tim Curry.

  2. "Hey" by Butthole Surfers. OMG this song. I used to be obsessed with "Pepper" in highschool.

  3. Important reminder. I did this twice yesterday and felt like shit. I also have to speak louder.

  4. Another song: "Pass This On" by The Knife. So epic. Needs to be in a futuristic sci-fi film about a cyborg cop. Something Ghost in the Shell-ish.

  5. Book art

It's so uncomfortable seeing people from the past. I recently ran into the grandmother of an ex-best friend (K). She had raised K, and I thought she was Ks mother for a long time. Anyway, I was freaking out inside, but tried to be polite. She had her great grandchild with her. Not Ks kid, but her sisters. K has a baby.

Ks grandma made me give her my number, I was so happy they never called. I'm not on Facebook for a reason. When relationships die out, they should just stay that way. Especially grade school one. It's unhealthy to be connected with people you played with in kindergarten. At least for me, I have no interest in them.

In grade 7, K and I got matching sweatshirts. We even named them. Dark grey sweaters with a dagger/dragon/skull design. Studs on the hood. We thought they were so cool. The other kids probably made fun of us. I still have mine and it's too big on me. It must have swallowed eleven year old me right up.

I've been considering donating it, along with a jewellry box K gave me for my birthday once. The jewellry box is cute, but I have better ones. The sweater is ugly, but I still have a hard time parting with it. I wear it around the house when my better sweaters/cardigans/robes are unavailable. Like right now.

Instead of thinking about K when I wear it, I want to think about my other associations with it. Like Apollo our cat sleeping in it while I wear it. He looks like a very odd baby bump. He's been sick lately, but is getting better. I thought he was dying a week ago a cried like crazy. He's fine now.

I dunno, I'll probably get rid of it at some point. Maybe after I wash it next. It's an ugly sweatshirt and isn't very warm. It's from fucking Wal-Mart. Fuck this nostalgia shit.

Also, I have loved every version of this song that I have heard so far.

Some songs that get me teary eyed, no order:
1. Tilly and The Wall - Coughing Colours
2. Sia - Breathe Me (even before I watched "Six Feet Under", maybe especially, because that sequence felt like a car commercial)
3. Johnny Cash - Hurt (NIN cover)
4. Led Zepplin - All of My Love
5. Red Hot Chili Peppers - Otherside
6. Damien Rice - Cold Water
7. Three Days Grace - I Hate Everything About You (not so much anymore, but totally during the suummer between grade 7 and 8)
8. The Beatles - Let It Be

That's all I can think of right now

Cockroach has been singing "Sombody Kill Me" from The Wedding Singer over and over again. I actually love that song, but oh my gawd.

She's also been singing a little diddy called "Love Me Dead", I haven't actually heard it yet, but the lyrics sure seem interesting. Something like "Fill my sould with vomit... something about gum... your my sugar plum...", I dunno, it's on my to-do list.

If I won tickets, I'd go to any concert. I'd love to see the Rolling Stones, or any of those bands where the members are past sixty and still rockin' it. Or to a Grace Jones, Cher or Lady Gaga concert, mostly because they have cool wardrobes. I wouldn't mind going to watch an orchestra or something like that. I think my grandma brought me to see one at the Fox Theatre when I a little.

Baby, baby

Most of the times when my neighbours get drunk, they yell and scream and bang things. Tonight, on the other hand, they went for something different:

They are singing Motown songs in the style of a cappella. And they're quite good, very in sinc.

Though I don't think these are the same neighbours that yell and scream and break things.

Also, I'm interested in how my sister will react if they sing way into the night. She's always complaining about music that I don't usually hear (or don't hear it at all) until she mentions it.

Ugh, I hate iPods. I miss my little mp3 player. I named it Fernando, it's been dead for a while. My iPod is named Eddie, and I hate it!

I've been very tired, but at least it isn't like the kind of tired I was in the hospital. That was an unbearable kind of tired. It felt like someone was holding onto my heart, or my heart was made out of lead. I dunno, my chest felt heavy.

It was also hard to breathe, because there isn't any natural air in hospitals. Maybe they should have oxygen lounges on each floor.

The other night, I heard "C'mon C'mon" by the Von Bondies being played live. It was across the river (I think), but it was so clear. I don't know why I mentioned this.

My favourite time of spring is when the lilac bushes grow in our backyard. I went out there earlier and they were about 12 feet tall, and 5 foot something Drunkard was standing underneath them grabbing some sprigs for Mothers Day. The smell is wonderful and strong. Roses grow in our frontyard, but they don't stand a chance against the lilac. Most of the things in our yard grow wild. A few years ago, tulips started growing from the base of our tree. It was weird.

I hate shopping. I wish it were like My Stepmother is an Alien. She put a magazine in her purse, and her purse produced a dress. An ugly dress, but I like the idea.

"Norwegian Wood" is probably my favourite Beatles song (so far). It's about John burning down the house of a women who wouldn't sleep with him (not really... I think), but it's so lovely.

Classical music can be so confusing.

I remember when I would stay at Harpys place, I would pretend to play her piano. It had buttons that played famous works, I would usually pick Beethovens Moonlight Sonata or Fur Elise and pretend to play along. I would have never have taken lessons from Harpy, she's too mean and probably would have whipped my hands with a ruler.
