Writer's Block: Airplane reading
Oct. 9th, 2009 08:57 am[Error: unknown template qotd]
It would probably be something that if long enough for me to also read on the plan ride home. Also, it would be something that I started reading, and never got the time to finish. Right now it would be Catch-22 by Joseph Heller. I don't know how long I've been reading it, but everything has been so hectic. And I love this book, but I don't even think I'm half way through. I miss the old days when I could read a book in three days or less, but my mind is too tired and sometimes it can't handle new information.
Writer's Block: Dog Day Afternoon
Jul. 3rd, 2009 04:27 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]Sit in the shade and read. Walk along the river with a friend. Ice-cream. Cool movie theatres.
When I was little, playing in a sprinkler or "pool" was pretty big. I usually didn't go to Waterworld, because I couldn't really swim, and they made a rule against wearing t-shirt over bathing suits, which Chantel and I did often. Also, have a nighttime bonfire, which is illegal now.

Writer's Block: The Kids' Section
Mar. 16th, 2009 04:23 pm[Error: unknown template qotd]The Ref, I wore out the VHS tape. I still love it so much. Favourite Christmas movie. They are like my family, but more funny, and Denis Leary has them hostage.
Runners up include:
1. Almost all Disney movies, which I still love
2. Practical Magic, not so much anymore. Could have been way better.
3. Fern Gully, still love it. Has Tim Curry as a villain, he's awesome.
4. Labrynth & Legend (the directors cut)
5. Other movies not marketted (sp?) to children: Die Hard, Scrooged, Big Trouble in Little China, and Se7en.
6. Movies I don't quite remember so much, but I know I loved: The Sandlot, Neverending Story, Princess & the Goblin, and the two movies I mentioned in a recent post: Milo & Otis and The Polar Bear King.
There's so many. Oh I forgot, I used to watch musicals all of the time with Harpy. Mostly Meet Me in St. Louis.
Edit: Read other comments and remembered a bunch more:
- The Last Unicorn
- Beetlejuice, Nightmare Before Christmas, and Batman Returns
- TMNT, the one from the 80's
- Wizard of Oz
- Princess Bride and Dragonheart

It's so strange to find a movie that you loved as a child, and discover things you never noticed before. Like two of my faves were foreign language films:
1. Milo & Otis (1986) Japan
2. Polar Bear King, The (1991) Norway & Sweden
They were dubbed so I couldn't tell. I probably would have been able to tell with the second, but I didn't have glasses back then. So I woulnd't have been able to see that the lips and dialogue didn't match.

Classical music can be so confusing.
I remember when I would stay at Harpys place, I would pretend to play her piano. It had buttons that played famous works, I would usually pick Beethovens Moonlight Sonata or Fur Elise and pretend to play along. I would have never have taken lessons from Harpy, she's too mean and probably would have whipped my hands with a ruler.
The Zipper
Jan. 5th, 2008 11:33 amI miss the Zipper. I only went on it once with Chantel, I think I was 12. That was the best part of the day, because we weren't able to buy enough tickets. I actually found the ride very relaxing, Chantel screamed a bit. I don't think they have the Zipper at Winder carnivals anymore.
Yon know, I haven't been to a carnival at night for YEARS. I vaguely remember going to one with my mom, and we went on the ferris wheel. I think. I get a lot of my early memories mixed up with dreams so I don't know.
I would love to go to a carnival/festival (especially at night), but I don't have anyone to go with. I don't have any friends. I guess I could try with TaSha, but I can never make plans with her, she's unreliable. I've learned not to depend on her.
I don't know what brought this all up, especially in January.
