  1. Tim Curry. Tim Curry. Tim Curry.

  2. "Hey" by Butthole Surfers. OMG this song. I used to be obsessed with "Pepper" in highschool.

  3. Important reminder. I did this twice yesterday and felt like shit. I also have to speak louder.

  4. Another song: "Pass This On" by The Knife. So epic. Needs to be in a futuristic sci-fi film about a cyborg cop. Something Ghost in the Shell-ish.

Baking

A while ago, I was going through a rut. A depression. I decided to watch Hot Shots!, because it was the type of stupid movie I needed at the time. While watching the end credits, I noticed there was a recipe for brownie topping. Turns out, there are two recipes and one is for Nobby Buns. I have no idea why they are called nobby buns, but I love making them. They taste good warm with butter and homemade apple sauce.

Anyway, it made me realize that baking was a good way to get my head in order. Measuring ingredients and what not. Usually I'll make cookies, they are almost always oversized. I don't have the patience to make smaller ones. I guess that's not a bad thing though. Here are the three best cookies I've made so far:

  1. Soft oatmeal cookies with cocoa powder and shredded coconut. They didn't really spread and were really thick. The batter broke one of my spatulas. So now I use my hands and it's all messy, but I like it. It was a bastardization of several different oatmeal cookie recipes.

  2. Mud cookies. Here is a similiar recipe. I found our recipe while going through some old papers. It's written in green gel pen and I have no idea who wrote it. I baked the cookies for a bit so that they were crispy on the outside. Then I coated them with melted white chocolate. I put them in tins for Christmas. I made these at Harpys place and she was always picking at me, so it was sort of stressful to make them. But they were super yum.

  3. I tried to make Oreo stuffed chocolate chip cookies, similiar to these recipes. I had those Oreos with the mint flavoured cream. I realized too late that I had eaten most of them and only had four left. So I broke them into little pieces. I also didn't have as many chocolate chips as I thought, so I used those and cocoa powder. The batter was super sticky and I was really impatient, so I only ended up with 6 large cookies. But they were fucking good. The mint was subtle.

I haven't read any of her books yet, but I've been reading Roxane Gays tumblr. Sometimes she will post sort of a diary where she recounts something she cooked, alongside what is on her mind at the time. I made these cherry brown butter bars after reading this entry (tw: eating disorders). It was the only time where I actually had the ingredients already. I don't have a cherry pitter, so I had to do it by hand. It was messy, but tasty.

I also made these gummy bear cookies. Except with gummy worms cut into peices. They are really pretty, like cookies with stained glass. I dunno. I wasn't too much into the taste, but everyone else liked them. They tasted alot like these cookies my mom used to buy all the time that I hated.

I have never been able to make brownies that live up to my satisfaction. I don't usually bother with icing cupcakes. I never ice cakes.
